If there is one benefit to being Raven, as opposed to someone sane, it is that he can travel to very many different places.
If there is one benefit to being Lilly Kane, as opposed to someone not blonde, bubbly, and evil, it is that she is very good at getting her way.
Which is why she and Raven are currently in Vegas, staring up at the very tall and glowing buildings.
Or Raven is staring, at least.
And maybe trying not to laugh.
"They are calling the aliens, perhaps? Or possibly it is like signal flares?"

"...also possibly alien beacons."
She grins at him.
"But they also contain alcohol, casinos, clubs, and many amusingly inebriated and often half-naked people. Let's go!"
no subject
He wrinkles his nose at her as they move off into the well lit crowds.
"I am wondering, perhaps, if you will become an amusingly inebriated and half-naked person?"
It is, after all, something that has doubtless happened before.
no subject
"Raven! I thought you knew me better than that."
There's a smirk before she grabs his hand to tug him into a large white building.
"I'm an all-or-nothing kind of girl."
no subject
He sounds very earnest.
"Also possibly a woolen coat. They are often very long, yes?"
no subject
"But not often available in a town where the daytime temperature often gets over 100 degrees."
She's taking Raven towards the main casino floor. She figures the generally glittery appearance will be appealing.
no subject
And then he stops.
Raven is like . . .
a kid in a candy . . . . no
a kid on Christmas . . . no
a kid . . . . no
Incandescent. That is a very descriptive word.
"It is very shiny, I think."
He casts a sideways smile at her.
"You are good at winning, perhaps?"
no subject
"I have a pretty good track record. Also, a sizeable amount of money to play with. Where do you want to start?"
no subject
Raven is already heading toward the slot machines.
Cherries are very tasty.
Though possibly not when they are only painted.
no subject
Lilly follows, grinning. This could prove to be interesting.
"I hate to burst your bubble, Raven, but real cherries aren't all that common in this town."
no subject
"It is the hookers."
Blink.
"Also the weather, I am thinking."
And then he stops in front of a forlorn and lonely machine.
And waits for the little old lady to leave.
And waits.
no subject
"Oh my GOD," she says suddenly, sounding utterly shocked as she gazes just out of the little old lady's range of vision.
"That's- that can't be Tom Jones, can it?"
The little old lady's head snaps around. There's a second of hesitation before she abandons her machine and trots off to where Lilly's staring, wide-eyed.

Then he sits down in front of the slot machine and pulls the lever.
It is kind of funny how it works without requiring a quarter, isn't it?
no subject
"Hey, I'd like a martini. Rave-"
It dawns on her mid-sentence that Raven's a bit of an unusual name outside of bar, and that really, they're probably not going to need to do anything to attract extra attention.
"Raven-haired love of my life, can I get you anything?"
no subject
"Whiskey will do very well, I am thinking."
He beams at her, teeth bright and sharp, and then the machine begins making noise.
And there are a lot of quarters pouring out.
"The good kind, yes?"
no subject
"You heard him," she tells the waiter. "The good stuff."
The waiter nods and heads off. Lilly turns her attention back to Raven.
"I was going to come up with a fake name for you, but I think maybe a nickname instead. Like, oh, Lucky?"
In that way where he makes his own luck.
no subject
"It will do, perhaps. Though it is little enough to do with luck."
This is skill, Lilly.
And judicious chea--manipulation of events.
"Possibly there should be more fruit, and then the spinning wheel? It is oddly bouncy, I think."
no subject
"More fruit, definitely. I like cherries."
no subject
But Raven isn't looking.
Nope.
"Lemons are not so bad, but--"
He laughs.
"--not here, I am thinking."
There is another loud clattering of coins into the winners tray, and Raven scoops them up.
"It is enough to be starting with, I think, yes?"
no subject
She eyes the heap of coins.
"Although at some point we may want to convert them into bills of small denominations. You know. Easier to... carry."
no subject
"It is, perhaps, what pockets are for, yes?"
no subject
Thongs so rarely do.
"Oh, finally. Our drinks are here."
The waiter has returned with a martini and a whisky, as promised. Lilly finds it vaguely unsettling that her server doesn't have a tail.
no subject
Probably.
If Lilly really wanted him to.
As it is, however, he just takes the whiskey and gulps it down.
"Possibly a sock, then, yes? Or a very large bag."
And these can handily double as weapons.
Brilliant.
no subject
"Oh, it's going to be that kind of night, huh?"
She lifts her glass and then stops.
"Wait. Does your biology, or whatever, actually let you get drunk?"
no subject
"It is possible to pretend, I think."
He manages to look even shifter.
"Like with getting high, perhaps."
no subject
"You got HIGH? Without ME?"
She narrows her eyes.
"Fine. Then you're making it up to me by getting very, very drunk with me tonight.
